Yellow Card, a leading global stablecoin-based infrastructure provider, is proud to announce its acceptance into the second cohort of Ghana's regulatory sandbox for virtual asset service providers, reaffirming its ongoing engagement with Ghana's regulatory authorities as the country continues to build out its Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) framework.

"Ghana is one of the most important markets in Africa's digital finance story, and we're proud to be building here alongside the SEC and the Bank of Ghana," said Gillian Darko, Vice President of Strategy, Yellow Card. "This is just the start of what we expect will be a long and productive partnership with Ghana's regulators as the legal framework for digital assets continues to take shape."

Ghana's digital asset sector has moved quickly over the past six months, after passing of the country’s VASP Act in December 2025. The SEC admitted its first cohort of virtual asset service providers into the regulatory sandbox in March 2026, launching a 12-month pilot under the country's VASP Act. Yellow Card has now been admitted, along with nine other participants, as part of the sandbox's second cohort, and looks ahead to working closely with both the SEC and the Bank of Ghana as the licensing framework takes final shape.

The West African country is a critical hub for cross-border commerce, alongside markets such as the United States, Brazil, India, Mexico, and the UAE, where banks, fintechs, and multinational businesses are increasingly turning to stablecoin-based settlement to move funds faster and more predictably than traditional correspondent banking allows. Sandbox participation gives Yellow Card the ability to test its stablecoin payment, fiat settlement, and wallet infrastructure in Ghana under direct regulatory supervision, working alongside local banks, payment networks, and enterprise partners to build B2B payment and treasury solutions suited to the market's needs.

The sandbox adds to Yellow Card's growing regulatory portfolio, which incorporates a wide range of licenses, registrations, and other regulatory authorizations, including the first VASP license ever issued on the African continent (Botswana). Ghana's sandbox represents one piece of that broader strategy, deepening Yellow Card's presence in a market it views as central to the future of digital finance in West Africa and beyond, and reinforcing its position as the infrastructure layer connecting global markets to dollar liquidity.
