NFTs are the new trend, with several celebrities and notable figures not only buying NFTs but launching fascinating NFT collections. Read more on these celebrities and their latest NFT projects.

The internet has revolutionised the world, with several buzzwords and trends capturing people's attention all over the world. Crypto and NFTs are two buzzwords that have attracted the most attention in the last year, especially. 

NFTs sometimes referred to as digital arts, are regarded as a luxury, a trend, or an unnecessity by some but have grown in popularity and attracted several investors recently. NFTs have proven to be much more than a buzzword or digital art, and they've evolved into several forms in recent years. Albums, digital clothing, collectables, and a variety of other items have all been issued as NFTs. 

NFTs can be used for charities, donations, and several fun activities like providing you access to exclusive fan clubs and fascinating swag items or collectibles. This has, of course, prompted several well-known celebrities, designers, singers, artists, and more to join the NFT space.

1. Snoop Dog

Snoop Dog's NFT adventure began with the release of his NFT collection, "A Journey with the Dogg," where he shares his life's experiences and greatest memories. One of the NFTs, "Death Row," sold for more than $100,000 in his first NFT auction. 

Under the alias "Cozomo de' Medici," Snoop Dog has redefined himself as more than a musical rapper, but as an NFT collector and mentor. Other NFT collections by Snoop Dog include the BODR Stash Box NFTs, which are inspired by his recent album BODR.

In December, Snoop took the leap into the metaverse and launched his interactive world, Snoopverse, and an NFT user paid $450,000 to become his virtual neighbour. Snoop has also acquired Death Row Records, initially founded by Dr Dre, and has announced intentions to turn it into an NFT label.

2. Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi has transcended his football GOAT status to become a god in his own Messiverse. He didn't only buy NFTs; he created his own realm. Messi Verse is an NFT collection that captures Messi's best moments. "Art is like football, eternal!" Messi said, speaking on Messi Verse. 

"Man from the Future," "Worth the Weight," and "The King Piece" are some of the NFTs in the collection highlighting notable moments in the footballer's career. On the first day of its launch, the NFTs sales soared to $3.4 million.

3. Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, proved that social media posts can be sold as NFTs when he sold his first-ever tweet. Dorsey is a well-known advocate of cryptocurrency who is dedicated to spreading the crypto gospel around the world. He's been dubbed a Crypto Evangelist and has led various crypto initiatives, including Square.

Dorsey isn't just interested in crypto; he's also a big fan of NFTs, having auctioned off his first tweet from March 2006. The tweet, which reads, "just setting up my twittr", was put into action and sold for $2.9 million. He might be said to have re-invented NFTs as more than merely digital art.

The revenues from the sixteen-year-old tweet were converted to bitcoin and sent to GiveDirectly, a non-profit dedicated to assisting persons living in poverty in Africa who are suffering from Covid-19. Dorsey continues to preach the crypto gospel and is committed to proving that crypto and NFTs are not just a buzzword or a bubble. In fact, Twitter has been redefined to support crypto-sharing features and NFT functions.

4. Paris Hilton

Famous Queen of pop culture and Influencer Paris Hilton has positioned herself as one of the first female celebrities to jump on NFTs.  Hilton launched 3 NFT collections, “Legend of Love”, “Iconic Crypto Queen”, and “Hummingbird in My Metaverse”, in collaboration with designer Blake Kathryn and the NFT collections sold for over a million dollars.

Her first NFT, Iconic Crypto Queen, was launched in collaboration with Super plastics and sold for over $1.1 million. Hilton has named her two new real-life pets,   “Crypto Hilton” and “Ether Reum,” which she considers Ode’s to her newfound obsessions with NFTs.

5. Justin Bieber

Famous musician Justin Bieber has not only swooned fans with his numerous hits but also his NFT collection. Bieber got into the NFT space by purchasing his first NFT, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) #3001, for 500 ETH, worth $1.29 million dollars. In the space of two weeks, he bought his second NFT, BAYC # 3850, for $470,000. 

Bieber has expressed his love of NFTs and has made several purchases of inBetweeners NFT, which he proudly displays on his Instagram page and other social media platforms.

6. Shawn Mendes

Popular musician Shawn Mendes joined the NFT space after his collaboration with Genies, an Avatar technology firm. An NFT collection of unique wearables were released to his excited fans. With exclusive swag items like necklaces, vests, earrings, and his virtual guitar which fans were able to buy via OpenSea they could participate in his exclusive events and join his fan base.

Mendes later donated the proceeds from the NFT sales to his foundation, Shawn Mendes Foundation Wonder Grants to support young creatives with inspiring ideas.

7. Eminem

Eminem stated that when he was younger, which made him even more thrilled to start his own collection. Eminem's NFT experience began with his first NFT collection, "Shady Con," a digital event that allowed fans to acquire an NFT collectible on Nifty Gateway. The one-of-a-kind tracks feature the rapper's instrumental beats.

Eminem has acquired 12 NFTs with his most recent purchase, a bored ape NFT worth 123.45ETH used as his profile picture on Twitter. 

The NFT craze has, in fact, spread across the globe, with several artists and celebrities using them to express their arts. African celebrities like Falz and M.I Abaga have also launched their own NFT collections. In fact, popular musician and producer Don Jazzy announced that he made over $300,000 in profits from NFT sales in 2021. Notable musician Stoneboy has also taken to crypto education by collaborating with Yellow Card to spread the crypto gospel to nations across Africa. 

NFTs are simply more than just a trend or a luxury as several celebrities now see them as an investment initiative and another avenue to express their art.
