Yellow Card partners with GenEm a youth empowerment initiative to empower Tanzanian youths to take control of their finances.
Pan-African cryptocurrency leader, Yellow Card Financial has partnered with Generation Empower (GenEm) to educate, inspire, and empower the youth to take control of their finances as well as equip them with the right skills to enter the workforce.
GenEm, founded by Empower Limited, was launched in September 2020 to make an impact in the lives of the youth. The vision of the programme is to be an aggregator for young people in Tanzania by bringing together both public and private sector players with a shared vision to inspire youth for collective growth.
Nancy Mbogoro, Youth Senior Coordinator at Empower says it is imperative for them to collaborate with strategic partners that will allow them to further realise the full potential of the programme.
She says, “The partnership with Yellow Card will support us in expanding the programme to grow our reach across the country. "But also having corporate partners enables GenEm students to engage and gain exposure from different industry experts.”
‘GenEm has scaled nationwide running concurrent programmes at University of Dar es Saalam, University of Dodoma and St Augustine University of Tanzania and simultaneously curating a network of youth hubs to access content and partake ‘off campus’ through GenEm Plus
Throughout the programme, the youth will have an opportunity to engage with activities hosted by several companies and organisations. These engagements will allow for educational sessions and conversations that will increase their professional skills.
When it comes to education and youth focused initiatives, Yellow Card is no doubt pioneering in the space. One of the companies core mandates is to create financial inclusion for all and they have successfully done so through various undertakings such as webinars, community events, and through - their educational platform - the Yellow Card Academy. In addition the company has actively set-up activations at higher learning institutions in order to connect with the youth at ground level.
Michael Mwangoka, Yellow Card Country Manager for Tanzania, says the younger generation has fearlessly embraced technology and used it to their advantage.
“Since most of the fourth industrial revolution and blockchain solutions are applied by using internet connections, the youth have proved to be not only relatively tech savvy and curious, but also good ambassadors to spread the message. It is also important for Yellow Card’s long-term vision to put the youth at the centre,” said Michael.
Another incredible opportunity that Yellow Card has created for the youth is their Brand Ambassador Programme. The innovative programme is a unique opportunity for the youth to understand crypto, educate their communities and generate an income which has allowed many students to pay their fees, send money home and save.
GenEm hopes to reach 2,500+ students through Cohort 3 which kicks off in November. And with the programme fully underway the impacts of transforming the mindsets across the country will certainly prepare young people for the future which will have an impact on future generations.
End.
